The excitement for the much anticipated second Yeovil Show, due to return to the Yeovil Showground on the weekend of the 15th and 16th July, is really starting to build with the launch of this year’s competition schedules, hot off the presses.
The prize fund for competitions has increased to a whopping £15,000, thanks to the support of title sponsor Southern Conservatories. Event Director, Sam Mackenzie-Green commented: ‘It’s definitely worth checking out the full list of classes at http://www.yeovilshow.org. Whatever your skill, there’s a competition to match your talents. Sewing, cake making, photography sit alongside the more traditional competitions including equestrian events and livestock showing. And in response to feedback from the 2016 Show there is a selection of new classes this year including art for under 16s, honey classes, and egg classes. And even if they don’t have an expensive Show Pony, children can still win prizes: ‘Tack and Turnout’ and ‘Best Rider’, which judge a child’s rather than a pony’s skills, are just two extra classes we’ve introduced to the equestrian section to make the competitions more inclusive.’

As if Southern Conservatories’ generosity wasn’t enough, they will also be donating a £8,000 conservatory to one lucky show-goer! This amazing prize includes a stunning 3m x 3m white conservatory with four opening windows and double French doors and will be fully installed by the Southern Conservatories team. The actual conservatory will be on display at the Yeovil Show over the weekend of 15th and 16th July where you can purchase a £1 raffle ticket for a chance to win. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Grovelands Care Home in Yeovil. Mandy Johnson Co-Director at Southern Conservatories commented on the exciting partnership; ‘My husband Adrian and I are Yeovil born and bred. We love the area and are lucky enough to have built up a successful business here, too. We are always looking at opportunities to give something back. Supporting the Yeovil Show is one way we can show our commitment to the community. Grovelands Care Home in Yeovil is very close to my heart. My parents are currently receiving the most fantastic care as residents there which is why we have chosen to donate every penny of the proceeds resulting from the raffle to Grovelands exclusively.’
To celebrate the marriage between Yeovil Show and Southern Conservatories, the company will be transforming one of the 18 conservatories on its North Perrott site into one that is Yeovil Show themed. The Yeovil Show Conservatory will play host to a number of rural craft demonstrations between now and the Show date.
Raffle tickets are also available from now from the Southern Conservatories Show Site or from the Yeovil Show website when you purchase your advance show ticket. For full details of the prize, terms and conditions, visit http://www.southernconservatories.com.
