When I was invited to review Christmas at Yeo Leisure Park I knew this opportunity was right up my street. Yeovil is my hometown and I go to YLP all of the time.
I belong to Nuffield Health (Yeovil Health & Wellbeing) which is located in YLP so I know the park well.
I like that you get your money refunded on the car park if you use the facilities at YLP during the day (just get your ticket stamped in any of the establishments on YLP) take it to the little hut and my kids in particular love handing it over and getting the money returned.
We went for a very festive date night on a Wednesday and the car park was packed, we managed to find a space and I think it’s great it’s so busy down there. Stars Lane car park is a quick walk away if you find yourself unable to park at YLP.
We were invited to try the Christmas Menu at Frankie & Benny’s followed by an hour bowling at MFA Bowl. Very excited to be going out on a school night we put on our best casual wear, kissed the kids goodnight and ran out the door.
We were welcomed at Frankie & Benny’s by Adam who showed us to a very festively decorated table which had been highly polished and did indeed make us feel very Christmassy.
Louisa was introduced to us as our waitress and she was friendly, polite and accommodating. From the Christmas Menu we had:
- Cheese and Bacon Potato Skins
- Roast chicken festive dinner
- Ice cream sundae
- Crumbled macaroni cheese cake with coleslaw
- Grilled salmon
- Chocolate Yule Log with Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream
The food was lovely and well presented and came out in good time. We enjoyed the drinks too, I had a glass of Chardonnay and a glass of Prosecco. Jon was happy to have Doombar from his favourite brewery St Austell Ales.
We really enjoyed our night at Frankie & Benny’s, we observed the restaurant is very clean, the customer service is very good, there’s a happy atmosphere and the food is good value for money.
With our tummy’s full we moved on to MFA Bowl. We were welcomed by the Manager Sam who was very friendly and looked after by Jess who got our bowling shoes and showed us to our lane.
We had a lot of fun bowling, and Jon beat me both times, even when the game got stuck it was quickly sorted out by Jess who called a technician who arrived immediately to sort it out, we were quickly on with our game again.
MFA Bowl needs a facelift, there is no doubt about that. It is looking very worn out especially in the carpets and foam missing from seats held together with duct tape. Speaking to Jess though there is a refurbishment on the cards which I think is great for MFA Bowl, for YLP and for Yeovil because it’s a great and fun facility.
Yeo Leisure Park is a good place for a date night/ or family day out. We enjoyed being out in the evening and would consider catching up with friends here in the build up to Christmas.
