Fathers Day is just around the corner now and if you are looking to make it special for a loved one then we have some great ideas for you.
Instead of just repeating the same old cliche gifts (surely he must have enough pairs of gloves by now!) why not make it a day to remember. Whether your Dad enjoys high octane fun or prefers something a little more relaxing we have found some interesting activities for your Fathers Day.
If your Dad is a bit of a car fanatic then why not indulge his passion by spending the day at Haynes Motor Museum near Yeovil.
As Enzo Ferrari said, ‘The fact is I don’t drive just to get from A to B. I enjoy feeling the car’s reactions, becoming part of it.’ and for one day only your dad can get that same feeling in one of the worlds most sought after cars. Along with a 10% discount for the Museum Shop your Dad can strap up and get a picture sitting inside a Ferrari California, or a Bentley Continental. Unfortunately a joy-ride is not included this time!
Along with the Fathers Day special you can also get access to the award-winning automobile collection, with nearly 400 vehicles with vintage pieces dating back to the late 1800’s. If cars are not exactly your Fathers ‘thing’ and he prefers something with more ‘meat’ then check out the Fleet Air Arm museum which is Europe’s largest aviation collection. With over 100 aircraft and thousands of exhibits the museum is hard to beat. Unfortunately they don’t have any Fathers Day events but they will be open as usual.
Somerset is well known for its extensive greenland and its areas of outstanding natural beauty. If your Dad prefers to be at one with nature, or enjoys animals and wildlife, then why not treat him to a special Fathers Day at Noahs Ark Zoo Farm – for one day only they will be running ‘Animal Encounters with Bacon Sandwiches’.
Not only will you get to see over 100 different species of animals and enjoy the play areas (including Europes longest hedge maze!) but you will get to participate in an up-close encounter with a Meerkat, Gibbons, Giant Tortoises, Spectacled Bears or Giraffes!
Escorted through the one in a lifetime encounter by a knowledgable keeper, you will get a 20 minute session with your chosen animals before going to enjoy your bacon sandwich and enjoying what the venue has to offer. This is a limited offer so be sure to book in advance though to avoid disappointment. Set on Saturday the 16th this can be a great activity for those who still want to spend the day with their Father, but are unable to do so on the 17th.
Something a little more relaxing?
Not all dads are car enthusiasts or nature aficionados and would prefer to use their special time relaxing or getting pampered. The beauty to this is that these can be great activities for the whole family, after all not all Dads want to spend their day with the focus just on themselves!
Treating your father to a pampering or spa experience can be a truly unique and enjoyable day out letting him unwind and spend his valuable time with the ones he loves. There are many hair & beauty salons in Somerset that offer a range of treatments including a massage, pedicures and manicures so your Dad can be pampered, while Mum can be pampered with some of the hairdressing or styling services available.
Alternatively, if pampering and relaxation is not something you think your Dad would enjoy, but still want a whole family day out, then Tyntesfield are hosting all day food and craft markets with expert guided spoon carving. Enjoy the day at a more leisurely pace and indulge in some great local food and enjoyable activities with the whole family.
