Happy May Day all!
I wanted to write a May Bank Holiday weekend rewind as I love sharing my experiences with you! Our first May bank holiday weekend of the year and we packed in a whole lot of fun. May is fabulous and gifts us not one but TWO bonus days off! Thank you May, we HEART you!
Southville Cinema| Cow & Apple | Aqua Sana
Saturday saw our busiest day. We skipped to Elim Southville cinema morning, 50p entry including popcorn and a drink. We saw Kung Fu Panda and I was surprised how much wisdom I found in it for myself! Does anyone find that with kids movies? They can really speak to me that’s for sure.
For a quick and easy lunch we hit new restaurant on the block Cow & Apple. My friend Rosie had been raving about it as she works there and gets to eat their delicious food all the time, lucky girl! We love to eat out and the locally sourced food certainly didn’t disappoint.
I chose the pulled pork tacos which was an easy pick for me as I adore pulled pork in bbq sauce, when they came out I thought there was no way I would finish them, they were insanely delicious!! Didn’t take a pic, too busy polishing off the lot. Ha! Top marks from my man too for his burger stack and choice of ale. The kids polished off their morsels from the kids menu which is a sure sign it’s been given the seal of approval, especially from miss Katie who is my picky eater. Empty plate above is example a. We’ve been given instructions from Harry to buy curly fries for home as they were a big hit.
The Cow & Apple looks out onto the Churchyard of St John’s Church and is so pretty guys you would love it. Yeovilian’s call the churchyard ‘The Beach’ because it’s where we lounge, hang out and picnic when the sun is out. It’s a hard life here! It’s a long time since I was a student in town (!!) but it’s where we all gathered in groups between college classes in our DM boots and fabric backpacks. The flower borders are currently filled to the brim with large colourful tulips.
Cow & Apple specialise in locally sourced beef burgers and ciders from all over the region. The restaurant set up through crowdsourcing so it feels like a real community business and is doing really well. The interior is rustic and charming. It’s a welcome sight to the Yeovil food scene, setting just the right tone and vibe for the town. I’ll definitely be back to try the delicious cocktails of an evening with my girlfriends too!
Saturday afternoon my dad and brother took Harry to his first ever Yeovil Town Football match while I hot footed it to Centre Parcs Aqua Sana with my girlfriends for some twilight R&R and bubbles to celebrate Chrissie’s special birthday. Although I hear Harry and my brother Tom missed the one and only Yeovil goal while they queued for drinks. LOL.
You guys, I show ALOT of daily content on Instagram especially Instagram Stories so do follow along if you want to see what shenanigans we get up to day to day.
Abbey Hill Steam Rally
My dad was showing Fergie (our family vintage Ferguson tractor) at the Yeovil Showground for the Abbey Hill Steam Rally, we went today (Bank Holiday Monday) to see him drive Fergie around the presentation ring. It was so nostalgic to see my dad driving Fergie as he hadn’t been working for 20 years previously. My grampy bought the tractor for the farm which holds such special memories for us. It was a sweet moment for all of us when we saw them out in the ring.
The kids had an absolute ball driving this mini Defender around a little track. Both the kids go nuts for Landy’s and play spot the Landy wherever we go. I made sure to jot down the deets as they hire them out for parties, I think I might know what theme Harry will want for his 7th birthday party!
What fun stuff did you all get up to this weekend? It seems to be warming up here in the UK and now it’s May I truly hope and pray the nicer weather hangs around, please God I’m so done with my ankle boots. I want to wear my cold shoulder dresses, flip flops and wedges all.the.time, please and thank you! Amen!?
