Share the Joy – This post looked different yesterday

Are-You-Looking-For-An-Amazing-Linky?

Welcome to Share the Joy!

I have a secret to tell you.  This post looked entirely different yesterday.

For one reason or another I believe I wasn’t meant to post Share the Joy yesterday.

I was meant to post today. Definitely.

I love hosting this linky and the blogosphere also frustrates me, almost in equal measure.  My heart for this place is simply one word.  Community.

And sometimes the community, both here and in the wider blogging groups, frustrate me and bring me joy. Sometimes it feels hard to be a host, a facilitator.

But today is different, although I still feel those things.  Today is a brand new day and something big and horrible has shifted my perspective by about a mile.

Last night a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance to an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.  Children have died or been seriously hurt.

There it is.  Perspective.

I’m alive.  You’re alive.  Free to blog, to link, to comment or not, to cry, laugh and dance.  Alive.  When will we (and I’m talking to myself here) realise that’s all the blessing we need?

Because 22 and rising children and adults ARE dead this morning from a terroist attack after a pop concert, that’s true as much as I wish otherwise.  What is wrong with the world if our beautiful kids can’t go to a pop concert and dance and sing?

Manchester is a beautiful city that is home to one of my best friends in the world and where a lot of my church friends hail from.  Home of salt of the earth people who are resilient and brave.

We need to tell our children that dark and evil things happen and that people are the ones who do it.  We do this to each other.  Can you believe it? Because I can’t.  I don’t know how to tell them this?

I hold on to the fact that most of you recognise the ethos that Michelle set out on The Joy Chaser and it’s this ethos that I vow to continue.  When people come and share wholeheartedly it does my heart good.

And yet.  This place is open to anyone and it is a safe place where your precious joy filled words will be nurtured and treasured.  Come as you are and bring what you’ve got.  I want to hear it.

The words from the sermon on Sunday whirr round my mind. “Don’t tell me words don’t matter”.  Words change perspectives, change lives for the better or for the worse.  Somewhere along the line words changed that suicide bombers journey, this I know for sure.

So bring your kind words, and MY promise on behalf of all those dead and grieving today is to be wholehearted to YOU with my words, actions and deeds.

Right, on to the link up!

Each week, I’ll pick a favorite post and feature it on the following week’s link up (I’ll be adding my picks to Michelle’s Pinterest Board where you’ll find all our favourites in one place). My favourite this week was Getting Settled into Nursery by new linker Bridie by the Sea.  Give our newest linker some love and show her this is a great place to be.

Today I’m linking up I don’t want to tell you about Somerset

Ok, let’s Share the Joy!

A reminder of the rules…

1) Link up a creation that has brought you JOY – all genres are welcome, new or old favourites and as many links as you like!

2) Link back either by including the Share the Joy badge (below) or a text link back to this Share the Joy linky page in your own post.

3) Please comment on one of your hosts’ posts and a few others. Let’s Share the JOY through commenting as well as through our posts!

Share the Joy will run for a whole week until the following week’s linky is open, so you’ll never be too late. And don’t forget to tweet me (@lizzie_roles) and Michelle (@MReevesCoaching) the URL to your post using the hashtag #sharethejoylinky so we can retweet it.

Feel free to invite your friends to join in – JOY is always better when it’s shared!

Isn’t it awful Lizzie? I spotted everyone retweeting a young lost brother from the bombing and I can’t help keep looking to see if he’s been found. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Sometimes times are so difficult but during those times, we need to realize how blessed we are. As you said, “I am alive, you are alive” and our hearts go out to all of those dealing with this tragedy.
Thanks for stepping in to provide this party.
    Hugs,
    Bev

What a beautiful post. Prayers are with all the victims and we have to remember that love actually exists in this world.

Thank you hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
