3 Ways to Celebrate Somerset Day

WAYHAY IT’S SOMERSET DAY!!! Pop the champers and let’s have a PARTY.

Can you tell I’m excited? Ever since I attended the Passion for Somerset day at Wyke Farms my passion for Somerset has been ignited EVEN MORE (if that’s at all possible!).  I’ve been looking forward to Somerset Day which is held on 11th May every year.  Now it’s HERE!

So what are we doing today to CELEBRATE?

Personally I love a cuppa and a slice of cake when I’m celebrating.  We’re all different and love to celebrate things differently so with that in mind…here’s 3 ways to celebrate Somerset Day the Lizzie Somerset way.

It’s a well known fact that supporting our local producers and stores keeps our economy in Somerset thriving.  Some of my favourite stores and brands are based right here in Somerset.

Turning LOVE into ACTION

If you don’t already support local brands and business why not buy something local today? Nothing says I love you like wholeheartedly loving a brand and shouting about it from the roof tops.

Eat in a local restaurant, buy some Somerset cider, beer or wine and then TELL everyone how wonderful it is! It’s the PERFECT day to start buying local.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible Somerset producers and businesses; I collaborated on a recipe post with Wyke Farms as well as on SELECTED.  A day out at Yeo Valley that was so good I wrote two posts!

I’d love to work with even more amazing Somerset brands as well as the international brands I already collaborate with.

We wholeheartedly recommend the amazing Somerset producers to you which you will find your local farm / indie shops and supermarkets with the ‘BUY Somerset’ label.

Book a holiday

Say what? A holiday?

What better way to celebrate than booking a break away from the norm.

I’m not talking about flying off to far flung countries, heck no,  Why not book your break here in sunny Somerset?

My son still goes on and on about going back to Butlin’s just an hour away from us.  Butlin’s not your thing? Somerset can include short to long stays from yurts, holiday cottages, to luxury hotels and spas.

There’s no where to better to book a weekend break (or longer) to support our Somerset travel industry and have some r&r at the same time.

Want a city break? BATH AND BRISTOL = Stunning.  Let’s go!!!!

To celebrate Somerset Day we’re giving away a haul of local goodies on our Facebook page. (I have no idea why the picture is sideways!  Technical I am NOT! Just ask my Biz coach and pal Ceri of This Welsh Mother fame.)

Just head over to FB & LIKE & SHARE the post to be in with a chance. Winner will be announced tonight!

We will all celebrate Somerset in our own way.  We are as diverse and colourful as the county we LOVE.  I believe Somerset is THE place where YOU can truly BE YOU.  So let us know how you’re celebrating over on Social Media by using the #SomersetDay and #LoveSomerset.
