When my friend Lindsay @stylistmum threw an mer-mazing Mermaid themed sleepover for her little girl, it looked so whimsical I knew I wanted the same for Katie’s 7th birthday party. She’d been asking for a sleepover for ages but I’d always resisted because to be honest I wasn’t sure if me and Jon were ready. Ha ha.
I knew Katie was ready for it and mature enough too. But I imagined she would turn from a compliant child into a crazy party monster fueled by sugar, birthday cake and adrenaline! Which would fuel the others into a frenzy at midnight, just as i was dropping off to sleep!?? Having spoken to other parents I was convinced this would be the case.
I needn’t have worried, I hired the same company as Lindsay, Little Nights In based in Frome. Thankfully they travel to Yeovil as they cover Somerset, Wiltshire and Bristol!
Honestly Emily was fantastic from enquiry through to pickup. She arrived in plenty of time with a big smile on her face, it was set up within 30 minutes (which transformed the room btw) from play room to epic Unicorn Dreamland! The next day Emily came and took it all away. Talk about fuss free party!
You should have seen Katie’s face when she first saw the unicorn themed sleepover party room set up, her face just lit up!
The attention to detail is incredible. Little touches like the bunting on the tents, plush unicorns to cuddle and pink and gold spotty blankets! It couldn’t be any more girly. Katie is such a girly girl so the Pretty in Pink theme is just perfect for her! And customisable to whatever girly theme you like! Mermaids, unicorns, princess, the ideas are really endless with it!
Emily started Little Nights In after studying Law at university and spending most of her working life in office environments;
I wanted to do something that got me out and about and allowed me to use my creative energy. I had so many fond memories of sleepovers from when I was a child and wanted to be part of making them special for the next generation.Emily Clink – Little Nights In
The tents are for ages 3-12. Little Nights In totally takes the stress away by setting up and providing everything you need for the perfect sleepover!
Little Nights In provide everything from the tents, bunting, to proper mattress, sheet, quilt, blanket, pillow, cushions, table, drink cup, coaster, frame with Katie’s Little Night In, and optional extra….a sweet shop FULL of sweets. Emily knew it was unicorn themed so provided unicorn chocolate coins! The little touches like this make all the difference to me as a parent.
Do you want to know what time they went to sleep? Well not too bad actually….10pm. I’m told that’s quite early? And they slept all night long, once they were asleep! Phew!!
The next day we rose after a pretty epic sleep actually. Jon whipped up pancakes for the girls which they had with nutella and unicorn sprinkles! Fruit was on offer; watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. All fruit was ignored, obviously!
Then we had birthday cake! Always my favourite bit of a birthday. It’s not a birthday without cake amiright?
Did you see the cupcakes on my instagram? They were adorable! The girls had one each in their party bag which included their unicorn onesie and sleeping mask. List of where we got everything at the bottom of this post.
The unicorn themed party cake was provided by another incredible local brand The Cake Studio by Lisa, based near Ilminster. Lisa blew me away with her attention to detail!
Love in a cake.
Three different coloured layers with strawberry icing. Covered in strawberry icing, topped with dripping white chocolate, heart shaped marshmallows and a HANDMADE unicorn and ‘7’ heart! Lots of sprinkles too. It was just perfect! And it tasted amazing. My love language is cake and vanilla and strawberry, what a fabulous combination.
