Christmas Eve Joys

My goodness it’s only Christmas Eve! It feels like it’s taken an age to get here & then crept up on me at the last minute!

To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, here are my five joys this Christmas Eve (not Friday but close…) Thanks Natasha, April, Christina & Darci.

O N E   A gift to myself – Choosing to Love My Hometown.

It’s a crime not to gift oneself during Christmas.  Loving my hometown hasn’t been easy but my journey this year has seen me turning some inbuilt ideals & pedestal placement on their head. Instead of following the crowd I’ve been working out ‘well, what do you think?’

Read my post LOVE YEOVIL about my passion for Yeovil’s industry, community & innovation.

I’m looking forward to celebrating my family Christmas right here, & it starts right now.

T W O   Christmas with kids

Is there anything more precious than a baby’s first Christmas? Apart from all the Christmasses that follow (& Mama/baby matching outfits)?!

Seeing the fairy lights in their eyes, the tiny cards from little friends & Master H singing in the Preschool sing-a-long are highlights so far. Christmas through these sweet babes’ eyes, I want to hold on to these moments forever.

T H R E E   Personalised Christmas Stockings

I’m beyond obsessed with personalising everything! Especially at Christmas, if I can stick a name or monogram on it, I will. I really enjoyed choosing our little family’s stockings from Pottery Barn.

F O U R   My BFF’s Gift

I CANNOT wait to give my BFF Roberta her gift this year. I will share it with you once it’s reached its owner! I loved it so much I got one too. No-one could be a more loyal & loving friend. Happy Christmas B!

F  I V E   Looking forward to New Year

This year I’m actually looking forward to New Year! In past years I have found it to easy to focus on disappointments of ideas that didn’t come to fruition or friends I didn’t catch up with or other things I’d set my sights on. Yes, I think it’s good to look back on the year & reflect on those things that didn’t go so well, but to use that reflection for good change. I also think it’s great to reflect on our successes, my children’s journey & on the things that worked out really well!

My New Years resolution is to say ‘should’ less & ‘will’ more.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2014! Cheers to new adventures, I hope you’ll join me in mine.

Until the next time friends!
Have a great day

  1. Those personalized stockings are precious. I, too, love personalizing/monogramming anything and everything! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!

  2. lovely post, I’ve never thought about ordering from Pottery Barn but whenever I hear about it it reminds me of Friends, ha! x

  3. I was looking on Etsy for stockings & the ones I liked most were from the US & they didn’t ship to the UK! I don’t know why I thought of looking up Pottery Barn, possibly it came up when I googled for personalised stockings but I’m so glad I did. They’re such good quality & we all love them! Happy New Year to you, thanks for commenting

  4. I have big plans for next year especially in regards to my blog, wish me luck! Next post is about organising my plans effectively! Happy New Year I hope everything you are hoping will happen comes up for you. Thanks for commenting

  5. Reflection and appreciation seem more important as we get older. In our twenties there’s not much to look back on, but once you have a family of your own it feels more necessary to appraise, assess and be grateful for all the different facets of our lives. All the best for 2014.

  6. I agree! I especially find that now I’m out of the working world it’s so important to reflect on what can be achieved at home & what joys we can take from life no matter what we do. Thanks for commenting. Happy New Year!

  7. A lovely 5. I personalise as much as I can too – named decs, named stockings – even got named bunting this year. Hope you enjoy the new year.

  8. Thank you so much it was a very special Christmas for us. My sweet Bea didn’t really have any idea what was going on! Happy New Year to you, thank you for commenting

  9. A great read to think of as we prepare for the new year. I absolutely adore the stockings, I love how they are all a different design as well as being personalised with your names.

  10. This is such a positive post! I really haven’t given a lot of thought to finding out about my home town, and it’s such a good idea, to help ground you in your community. I’m going to try and do that this year

  11. It’s great to finally feel proud of my roots, no matter what anyone else thinks about where I’m from 🙂 thank you so much for commenting! Happy New Year
