Hey friends,

Happy FRI-YAY!

I just had to bring back Feast & Ferret. I love the mix of food and shopping! I hope you will too.

To be honest I don’t get much opportunity to go shopping anymore.  I realised that lots of families go to town together; this was a lightbulb moment for me because we NEVER do that. Going around a load of shops with Harry is like pulling out teeth.  He detests town.  I can go to town just me and Katie and we can have a nice wander; Claire’s Accessories is Katie’s favourite shop.

It’s quite possible that Harry suffers with sensory sensitivity in some ways, because recently when we went to town, I observed his reactions.  I noticed he just doesn’t know where to look first.  It’s the sheer amount of people, different options that overwhelms him and it sends him scatty. If we walk into a shop or coffee place that he doesn’t like, no way are we staying there.

Walking around my favourite shops is not fun when this happens, so I must admit I do most of my shopping online or in town by myself.

FEAST || Deliciously Ella Oat Bars

For my recipe offering this week, I’ve been scouring the internet for an answer to my baking problems; I’ve put on a stone over the summer holidays, even though I’ve upped my running I’ve also upped my cake and chocolate intake (hello Dairy Milk Oreo…every night).

New snack options are needed so we have healthier choices for a sweet treat.  Since I stopped drinking wine I seem to have replaced the sugars and alcohol with chocolate – oops!

Allergies in the family brings restrictions on what I can make too.  I spend whole hours scouring the internet and cookbooks for recipes that might be suitable.

Baking needs to be dairy free and not necessarily vegan.  Vegan food generally uses nut-based alternatives to which Jon is highly allergic (as in Epi-Pen allergic).  Have you seen the scene in the new Peter Rabbit film where young Mr McGregor has to use his Epi-Pen? That’s the scenario I want to avoid at all costs.

As a busy mum too, I need to be able to pull together the ingredients easily and I get overwhelmed with complicated and drawn out ingredients lists and methods. Deliciously Ella’s Apricot and Coconut Oat Bars are perfect for us all and Harry will be getting this in his lunchbox from now on. Fingers crossed he won’t mind the swap from a two-finger Kit Kat!

The Deliciously Ella oat bar recipe only has 6 ingredients and the method is easy.  This recipe also brings out my blender which I love because it’s so noisy! I feel quite epic when I’m using my bad-ass blender!

  • note: I used organic apricots which is why the fruit is darker, apricots are naturally dark!

FERRET || Amazon Prime

Yes, friends.  I’ve finally succumbed to Amazon Prime. I’ve heard so many great things about it. The idea of next day delivery excites me more than it probably should.  Let’s hope this glorious benefit doesn’t lend itself to irresponsible spending! You can even try it free for 30 days – click here* for more details (*affiliate link)

In other news, Jon and his mate Tom are heading off on their European adventure soon.  The Screwball Rally – 8 countries in 5 days in a car worth no more than £750.

You can follow their adventure on Facebook.  Here is the link to give via Virgin Money .

You’re invited to see them off from SIAB headquarters in Chilthorne Domer.

Have a great weekend friends!

P.S. Let me know in the comments if you make the oat bars and what you thought of them!
