Five on Friday

Hey friends,

I thought it was high time I did a Five on Friday, it’s been YONKS since I’ve done one.

My head is slightly full of Christmas and the fact I really need to get a move on with present buying, wrapping and that’s not easy when juggling with recently starting my own linky with Becca Keeping up with the Joneses, promoting it, writing new content and keeping things fresh.

I’m also trying and failing to stay on top of my other jobs like keeping my house from falling down around my ears with the sheer amount of laundry. Our shower hasn’t worked properly for a month now and I am holding onto the fact that a cold shower is still more than most people in the world can claim. Still, that doesn’t discount the fact my hair is not as happy as it usually is.

Onto my fIve…

I have never had just a Wash and Blow Dry before my shower went kaput and I have now had TWO in a matter of weeks! Usually keeping such a luxury until I have my hair cut or dyed. Can I just say that after a month without hot water, the feeling of hot water ON MY HEAD was bliss, I’ll never take it for granted again.

I love The Mall at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, it’s a good hour drive from me and well worth it for the shopping.

Always late to the party I’ve started my Christmas Shopping and I am feeling the pressure to get started and finished ASAP!

With so many family members, friends and kids to buy for I really should have gotten started before now, but I just can’t get into it before Dec so that’s where I have a problem.

Maybe I need a personal shopper?

The White Company pop up shop had my favourite window display.

Know of any awesome gift guides? Throw them my way I need all the help I need (you can also link them up to our City Country Life linky too! This week’s topic is ‘Christmas Shopping’ #shamelessplug).

Unless you live on top of a Christmas tree you must have heard of this girl? She is amazing!  Seriously head to YouTube to hear this girl speak TRUTH!  Search for Brene Brown’s TED Talks and Super Soul Sunday too.  I love this one ‘Why your critics aren’t the ones who count’.

Top of my wish list for Christmas is Brene Brown’s book Daring Greatly.

I’ve put my name down to get it from my friend Chris who is doing a bulk order at church, bless her.

We’re currently looking at 7 life giving habits at Yeovil Community Church and vulnerability is one of them. I love how we can apply scripture to this incredibly important subject.

If you want to see the free Church resource you can click through HERE.

I loved this blog post by Michelle at The Joy Chaser. Titled ‘Giving yourself permission to press pause’ which speaks to me so much at the moment.

During this really busy season, (or silly season as it’s sometimes called in the UK) it’s great to remember to pause, take a breath and remember the important things, which in mind are the small things that are often overlooked or taken for granted.

I saw this lady taking a breath in The Mall on Tuesday, I asked if I could take her picture and she was happy to a oblige.  Doesn’t she have a lovely face?

Next weekend will see us hot-tailing it down to the cornish coast once again. It’s the Mousehole Christmas Light Switch-On.

Considering Mousehole is our ‘go to’ place, we’ve never seen the lights on CRAZY I know.  We’ve seen the locals putting up the lights, we’ve seen the lights in situ ready to go, but never on.  Me, Jon & the kids are so excited to finally see them.  Follow along on Instagram.

So that’s my five! With thanks as always to my hostesses April, Christina, Darci & Natasha.

  1. I’m feeling the need to pause too! I have so many Christmas ideas in my head – I just really need to write them down and decide a plan of action!
