Love Indie Stores in Bath with Pixie App

I’ve always loved Bath for shopping and culture, although I seem to only make it once a year at the moment with hectic schedules.  Just an hour away from my hometown of Yeovil it’s so easily accessible by car (A37) or train from Yeovil Pen Mill.  The Park and Ride is super easy to use too.

The New Pixie App is also making life easier for us by detailing all the local Indie stores that we can support and love in Bath.

Pixie App Founder, Greg Barden, said  “Pixie App is all about creating a more local world. We include all sorts of indies – boutiques, butchers, bakers, cocktail makers.  It’s about keeping more money in the local economy rather than it going to the big chains.”

As well as noting super cool indie stores, mobile payment systems have been set up too! This is a tool used by big chains which helps them to gain leverage over our shopping choices.  I think most of us would choose to use indie stores if we can!  By having that payment function the app makes shopping locally accessible and easy!

More Independence in Yeovil

Coming from a town that promotes mass shopping I believe we’re missing a vital part of this shopping culture in Yeovil.  We too could have our streets lined with indie stores like in Bath, Frome and elsewhere in Somerset.  Reclaiming the High Street seems to be in our hands.  If Frome can turn their town around in 10 years then so can we.

The Pixie blog has asked a great question Are you a doer? If we want things to change then we need to be part of that change.  I have great hopes that Yeovil can follow Frome and Bath’s example and become great again.  In the meantime download the app and get shopping!

  1. Loving the new look & feel Lizzie. Looks lovely & fresh. I now want to update my blog again 🙂 Also, I must make a visit to Frome, I didn’t know there was so much going on there. xx

  2. Frome is AMAZING Becky, in 10 years they’ve turned it around because they have an independent town council. I’d love for that to happen in Yeovil because the results are fantastic xo

  3. I’m a huge supporter of local businesses. We used to live in a part of East London which was dominated by thriving independent shops and it was a beautiful and lovely place to shop and a lovely community to live in. The place we live now has a similar-ish vibe, but I’d love to see more indies open up. Thanks so much for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  4. What a brilliant idea! We don’t have enough independent stores where we are (and certainly not many good ones). I’d love to be able to support more local businesses. #SharingtheBlogLove
