S E L E C T E D || The Edit – Introtweet

Welcome to S E L E C T E D || The Edit – Introtweet and our very first interview.

S E L E C T E D || The Edit is all about great brands and entrepreneurs who have championed the wholehearted route to success.  They inspire us through hard work, determination and a willingness to learn and evolve, they know that success is a journey.

Our first interview is with Introtweet founder and Managing Director Laura Brown.

I was recently lucky enough to go on a half day course with Introtweet at Taunton Rugby Club.  Throughout the half day course, Twitter for Business – The Next Level, I learnt actionable strategies that I’ve implemented into my social media.

Laura and Managing Director Peter are a great team, offering information in a refreshing way without overwhelming us.

What I didn’t factor in and found amazing was the networking opportunity.  I met like minded people, including blogger Clio from Diary of a Devon Mum, who I hit it off with immediately.  I learnt new strategy to apply to my business and chat at the same time! Win/Win.

As business owners and hustlers we are always learning and improving and so  S E L E C T E D|| The Edit is all about the stories behind the brand.  How they achieved success and what they’ve learnt along the way.

Enjoy the interview!

Hi Laura, tell us about how you started and why?

Introtweet was born after I left teaching and discovered that many businesses needed help in utilising Social Media to its full potential. Time and knowledge were the main stumbling blocks for most businesses and so our management and training services were born!

After 2 years we had grown to such an extent that we needed to expand and Pete stepped in to the breach! Since Pete’s arrival we have expanded, improved our training and management services and we’re VERY excited to be launching online support services very soon.

What helped your business grow?

Networking played a huge role in getting the business going at the outset and I was very lucky to meet some great local businesses, many of whom I still work with today!

The business looks very different today compared to 3 1/2 years ago when it started! The biggest thing we’ve tried to do is listen to our clients & other businesses. When we started we just did training and 1 week SM boosts,  but people began to ask if we could manage over a longer period and our SM management service was born! It’s so important to listen to businesses and not fall in to the trap of trying to tell people what they want.

We felt so busy at the start when we had 4 boosts at the same time! It’s amazing looking back to see how far we’ve come! We love Introtweet & adore working together as a partnership.”

Since the start of Introtweet, what lessons have you learnt?

One of the big things we’ve learned throughout the life of our business is how important it is to be both proactive and positive. Getting yourself out there, meeting people and engaging with your local business community on a regular basis has proven extremely important as the business has developed.

Shining a positive light on all things is also an Introtweet Mantra! We try to follow the 5by5 rule – if it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it!

Who influences you?

We’ve been influenced by a wide number of businesses and individuals based in Somerset and the South West since the business began. We’ve been very fortunate that people have been prepared to give us their time and expertise and we’ve learned so much by listening to those more experienced in business than ourselves.

We are eternally grateful to those who have supported us right from Day one!

What does success look like to you?

Success for us depends somewhat on which service we are working on. For our management clients, we take great pride in treating our clients accounts as if they are our own. Therefore, every success they have (a sale, event booking etc…) feels like a personal success to us!

When we train individuals and businesses we hope that we can equip people with the skills and knowledge to make Social Media a powerful marketing avenue that can make a tangible difference to their business. When we see someone we’ve trained utilising Social Media in such a way that is having a positive impact on their business, we class that as a success & it’s always brilliant to see!

On a more personal level – such is doing what we love & having the freedom to do it – knowing we created it! Amazing!

What drives you?

The desire to improve what we do and constantly offer a better and more diverse range of services. We want to continue to build the business and provide a quality service for businesses all across the South West and beyond.

One day we hope to have a beautiful office somewhere with a brilliant & dedicated staff – watch this space!

and to wrap up, what are your ‘words to live by’?

Work hard and be positive. It’s amazing the difference it makes when you have a positive mindset in business and we always make sure we look at things with the brightest possible outlook! Combining this outlook with a desire to work hard is a formula that has worked well for us so far & will continue to do so!

Laura Brown and Peter Andrews are Managing Directors of Introtweet, a social media training company that will help take your business to the next level.  Offering Social Media Management, Social Media Training and Social Media workshops and more.  Their new online membership site will be launched in the next few weeks, Introtweet Social Media Health Check. 1. What a great interview. I’m always interested to read about how businesses started and I love the mantra ‘work hard and be positive’.

  2. Thank you, i agree that having a positive mindset coupled with a great work ethic will get you far in life. As a solopreneur like you I think it can be really hard to stay motivated, I find I’m at my best when I can ‘talk it out’ whether that be how to approach a situation or something small like which chair to buy in my office. I’m so grateful to have people around me who listen to me just talk out my thoughts so I can work out what I want to do to move forwards. I think having good people around you, even if they’re not in the same business as you can really help. Who we surround ourselves too, is key xo
