Family dates are a new concept to me but while reading another blog (US) the family regularly went on ‘dates’ & wrote about them.
I thought it was such a great idea!
It sank in that intentionally spending quality time with my family was something vitally important. So 2014 is the year we started family dates.
We’ve been on three family dates so far & they always include food! We all love our food & eating out. It’s always abit touch & go whether Master H will go for the food though.
Our New Year date was a day out for breakfast at Carluccio’s in Dorchester before heading to Portland for a peek at the lighthouse! It was cold, cold, cold that day!!
We enjoyed the day so much we decided to go to TGI Fridays at Cribs Causeway in February en route to a kids birthday party in Cheltenham. It broke up the journey with children & the food there was really great & well set up for kids. Master H loved the Oreo Sundae!!
The March date saw us in our local Frankie & Benny’s for brekky & juice after a walk through our local Country Park. We went early (early with kids is good before they get tired/cranky) it was that mix of misty & sunny that made a lovely walk.
Brekky is my favourite meal to have out with the kids. It’s a real treat if you get pancakes, or eggs on muffins or just something that’s not the normal cereal you have every day.
If you go for breakfast it’s mostly quite quiet too which is another plus point with kids, they can’t disturb other diners if there’s hardly anyone else there!
If you don’t already I would really recommend taking your family out on a date, for no reason other than to spend some quality time together.
If you do go on family dates what do you do? Bowling, picnics, cinema, or baking together at home? I’d love to know your ideas for a fun family date!
I hope you enjoy the photo’s of our family dates so far.
Until the next time friends.
Have a great day!
